November Trip to Hotel Fauchere

Hotel Fauchere Sun Porch

Of the hotels that we’ve featured on Map & Menu in the last four years, Hotel Fauchere surely receives some of the most coverage. We plan road trips up and down the coast from Maine to North Carolina at least twice a year, and a stop in Milford, PA at this delightful Relais & Chateaux is always a must for us on at least one leg of the long drive.

Through our stays, there are many parts of the property with which we’ve fallen in love. We’ve raved about the breakfast too many times to count, and the rooms almost perfectly balance a tasteful, minimal aesthetic with stylish details of comfort and luxury, but there’s one thing that brings us back time and time again – Orvis.

Years ago, the hotel won us over, not just for its dog-friendliness, but for the manner in which they welcomed a dog of Orvis’s size with open arms. With its smaller size and stylish decor, we’d understand any hesitance around larger canine guests, but this has simply never been the case. Orvis loves the rubs and attention he receives as he pokes his head into the lobby, as he walks around the property, or while Meredith gets him to pose against the mosaic tile floor in the hotel’s conservatory (See: our #roadtripswithorvis tag on Instagram!). This level of dog-friendliness puts Hotel Fauchere in fairly rare company amongst the properties we visit, and will forever keep it near the top of our list of favorite places to stay.

These photos were taken during our trip back up to Maine in November after Thanksgiving, and we’ve already been one more time since then. If you ever find yourself in the Delaware River Highlands, do consider a night at this charming hotel!
