Living in Maine, we are unbelievably lucky to be surrounded by a number of diverse, beautiful & well-maintained trail systems. Having a dog with as much energy as Orvis means taking full advantage of as many of those trails, as often as possible.

Just up the road, Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park is probably our favorite set of trails in the immediate area. Walking the Casco Bay and Harraseeket trails along the rocky Casco Bay coastline and through an airy hemlock forest, it’s hard to imagine that you’re only a few minutes away from the shopping and tourist meca that is Freeport. It’s an impressive set of trails, that although less than 4 miles total, will have you experiencing many of the greatest features of the Maine coast. If you’re lucky, you might see some of the area’s wildlife, most notably Osprey, and if not, you’ll still spend a couple of hours forgetting about the hustle and bustle of life off the trail.

We might not have mentioned it, but the park is dog-friendly when your pup is leashed (although Orvis seems to always break free for a swim on deserted beaches), and on many a beautiful Maine afternoon, you might run into the three of us, wandering the trails and pondering just how lucky we are to live in an area with so much natural beauty.
