Update: Sweet Marguerites is unfortunately not in business any longer.
Sweet Marguerites opened up just down the street from us last spring, but it wasn’t until a few weeks ago that we took a moment to stop in for the first time and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate on a cold January afternoon. After our first sips we were shocked it had taken us this long to visit, and we vowed to come back very soon.
Although it was our first time in the shop, we were no strangers to the deliciousness of Sweet Marguerites handmade chocolates. Ever since we finished up the box of assorted chocolates given to us by our dear friends, Darcy & Carolyn, for Christmas, I’d been daydreaming about which flavors I would select for our next box. Taking full advantage of Michael’s absence this week (which basically means that I don’t have to share), I decided to treat myself to my very own box of chocolates. Of course, the blog post wouldn’t be complete without a photo or two of the cafe’s amazing hot chocolate, so that was added to my list of necessary treats as well.
Since Sweet Marguerites has a little bit of seating in the cafe, I decided to make a morning out of it by bringing along a couple of magazines to read while sipping my cup of hot chocolate. Having tried the salted caramel last time, I decided to go with the traditional chocolate. Both variations are deliciously creamy & rich enough that you want to slowly savor your cup. I’m honestly not sure of a better pick-me-up for a dreary winter day!
For my very own box of chocolates, I selected a small box of the Valentine’s Day Collection, made up of two flavors – a dark chocolate heart filled with champagne (!) & milk chocolate and a white chocolate heart filled with a passion fruit ganache. Yum!
If you’re unfortunately unable to stop in for a cup of hot chocolates & a box of chocolates to go, you can order them online or find them at a variety of stores listed here. Is there a better Valentine’s Day gift than chocolate? (Ahem, Michael.)
