Weekend Reads: 02.12.16

For me, it seems as though the acts of writing blog posts and reading blogs go hand in hand. If I’m not taking the time to post on Map & Menu, I’m rarely sitting down to read through the dozens of blogs I really enjoy following. I’m trying to get back into the routine of both writing posts and reading them, so I thought I’d share some links that have caught my eye in the last week or so – the perfect way I can ease myself back into blogging.

Artist Chandan Mahimkar shared inspiring hand-lettered quotes on Design*Sponge this week. This one from Monday’s post has been on my mind all week long.

This peek into San Francisco’s The Buchanan Hotel puts a trip to San Francisco high on my travel list.

Michael leaves for Miami soon, and if I were him, I’d plan on having a meal at Continental Miami just to see these menus in person!

A trip to Nantucket is on our 30 by 30 list, so I’m bookmarking this guide in case we’re able to make the trip happen before we both turn 30 . . . in just a few months!

Both Michael and I have driven through LA before on our way to other places, but neither of us have spent time there. If that changes, staying at one of these 5 hotels needs to happen. I’ve had my eyes on the Palihouse hotels, Hotel Covell, and The Beverly Hills Hotel for awhile now.

When reading fiction, I tend to get very engrossed in the story and find myself quite sad when I’ve finished the book. Stumbling upon this Terry Gross interview with writer Elizabeth Strout shortly after I’d finished My Name is Lucy Barton was a treat.

Finally, my favorite find on the internet in quite a long time – this video by Studiocanoe is well worth four minutes of your time.

Happy weekend, friends!
