A Map & Menu Weekend: 07.26-07.28

Summer Fruit

There was just so much to love about this past weekend! Wild blueberry season is here, which, for me, is the highlight of my entire summer! Over the weekend we ate an entire pint and started in on our second this morning.

Our Coral & Tusk donkey from Furbish arrived on Friday and seems to bring a smile to both of our faces every time we pass it. We spent Sunday in Wiscasset where the lavender on the farm is still at its peak! My mother took us to one of her favorite antique stores in Nobleboro and we walked out with a lovely pair of Asian-inspired teak chairs, whose cushions are already set to be recovered in the next couple of weeks.

Another highlight of the weekend was brunch at one of our favorite food trucks in town – Small Axe. When I read that they’d be serving a Lowcountry brunch at Portland Flea-for-All on Sunday, I pretty much mapped out the entire weekend around that one meal. Michael and I were easily two of the happiest southern transplants in New England yesterday morning with our feast – succotash with cheesy grits & an egg, zucchini hush puppies, and a fried chicken biscuit.
