Last week we took a very quick, impromptu trip down to Plum Island in Massachusetts to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. We visited the area once a couple of years ago during the off-season, and loved exploring the quiet, expansive beach alongside Orvis. Big fans of the Lark Hotels brand, we were excited about spending the night at one of their few dog-friendly properties, Blue. Our home for the evening was a sweet two-bedroom cottage complete with a kitchen, just steps away from the deserted off-season beach. We loved the bright interior and the blue accents (which of course, have me inspired to paint all of our own floors white), and the breakfasts delivered to your doorstep were a delightful added touch to return to after a long morning romp on the beach. All in all, our stay was the perfect relaxing overnight, and given its proximity to Portland, Plum Island and Newburyport will definitely be a place we keep on our getaway radar in the future.
