Hot Suppa! Breakfast

Hot-Suppa

The ‘About Us‘ page on the Hot Suppa! website reads like every foodie’s fantasy – a culinary adventure across America, hitting all of the best local spots, and eating all of the favorite regional cuisines. Meredith and I can totally get behind an idea like that, and after just a few bites of any of the options on the Hot Suppa! menu, I bet you would too.

The interior of Hot Suppa! reflects a lot of its regional inspiration with plenty of colorful details and unique artwork, highlighted by an abundance of natural light from its windowed street front. It’s cozy and can get busy (Meredith and my first visit here resulted in an hour wait – totally worth it), but if you get there early (or late), you can usually grab a seat in no time at all.

After I returned from a recent trip, Meredith and I decided that nothing would cure some jetlag blues like a late breakfast and a cup or four of coffee. Of course, I lean towards the Southern-inspired dishes on the menu at Hot Suppa! (like the Fried Green Tomatos and the Fried Chicken), and this time was no different. I ordered a serving of the Biscuit & Sausage Gravy, with a side of over-easy eggs, and cheddar cheese grits. Jetlag destroyed! Meredith, in her usual style, ordered a cheddar, caramelized onion, and mushroom Breakfast Scramble with hash browns and cinnamon raisin toast – yum.

All in all, it was a great way to return to Portland, and we’re very much looking forward to our next meal at Hot Suppa!! (← very intentional second exclamation mark)
